AI Scopes
The AI Scopes feature in GridStudio enables businesses to build intelligent, domain-specific assistants by combining the power of vector databases and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). This makes it easy to connect unstructured and structured business data with advanced AI models for context-aware responses, search, and automation.
AI Scopes allow you to define where and how AI should search for knowledge—making your assistant smarter, faster, and tailored to your organization’s needs.
Use Cases
Business Knowledge Assistants
Internal Documentation Q&A:
Create an AI assistant that can answer employee questions based on internal policies, SOPs, training materials, or technical documentation.
Customer Support Knowledge Base:
Power customer-facing bots with knowledge pulled from help articles, product manuals, or FAQs stored in a vector database.
Smart Search Across Documents
Enable semantic search over PDFs, emails, meeting transcripts, legal documents, and more. AI Scopes improve search relevance by understanding meaning, not just keywords.
RAG-Based Automation
Combine user queries with relevant context retrieved from your documents to generate high-quality responses. Useful for summarizing reports, generating emails, or filling out forms based on internal data.
Industry-Specific Intelligence
Legal: Extract precedents or summarize case documents.
Healthcare: Retrieve protocols or summarize patient notes.
Finance: Pull insights from market reports or compliance guidelines.
Real Estate: Summarize listings, compare properties, or answer regulation questions.
Key Features
Vector Database Integration
AI Scopes integrate with your existing document stores by converting files into embeddings and storing them in a vector database. Supported file types include:
- PDF, Word, Excel
- TXT, Markdown
- HTML
- JSON, CSV
- Custom file formats via pre-processing
RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)
Each AI Scope connects to an LLM (Large Language Model) and uses retrieved data to ground responses in facts, improving accuracy and reducing hallucinations.
Scoped Permissions
You can control which scopes are available to which assistants or users. For example, a sales assistant can only access sales playbooks, while an HR assistant has access to policy documents.
Updates and Syncing
Scopes can be automatically synced with source systems (like Google Drive, Notion, SharePoint, or your internal database) to ensure the most up-to-date data is always available.
How to Create an AI Scope
- Go to the AI Scopes tab under the AI section.
- Click "Create Scope".
- Name your scope and define its purpose.
- Upload documents or connect to a data source.
- Choose chunking and embedding options (default works well in most cases).
- Save and test your scope with a sample question.
Best Practices
- Group documents by topic or department (e.g., "HR Docs", "Sales Playbooks", "Product Manuals").
- Use clear naming conventions for scopes.
- Keep scopes focused and specialized for better performance.
- Regularly update documents to keep the scope relevant.
- Avoid duplicating similar documents across multiple scopes.
AI Scopes make GridStudio’s AI more intelligent, precise, and context-aware—empowering both internal users and customer-facing assistants with deep knowledge access.
